God is a wonderful creator. He is magnificent. He is creative. He is the ultimate artist.
Colossians 1:16
For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.
Isn’t this so true? Through God, all things were created. This is why we get to enjoy beauty. Nature. Wonderful things that we behold.
What’s going on in Detroit these days? Nearly 200 people took to the streets Friday in front of the Detroit Institute of Arts to protest any sale of art to pay off the bankrupt city’s debts. If the city needs money, they should get it and use that money to make Detroit a better place. I totally respect art, but society is more important.
Joe Kim is a very common name and the other day I stumbled upon a Joe Kim Photography. Not me, but excellent photos Joe! He’s in the Toronto area.
It would be great to meet someday. I’m sure we have a lot in common. We both appreciate fine art and photography. We both have the same name.
I recently had an incredible trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It was such an amazing visit! Current exhibits include:
Cambodian Rattan: The Sculptures of Sopheap Pich
The Boxer: An Ancient Masterpiece
PUNK: Chaos to Couture
Search for the Unicorn: An Exhibition in Honor of The Cloisters’ 75th Anniversary
The Roof Garden Commission: Imran Qureshi
If you’re around the city, make sure to plan a visit. You’ll be glad you did.

I love Impressionism. From Monet to Matisse, I’m a big fan. The Columbia Museum of Art has “Impressionism from Monet to Matisse.” I spent hours walking around, admiring the art. The exhibition features paintings by the well-known leaders of French Impressionism: Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Camille Pissarro and Alfred Sisley as well as paintings by America’s most noted Impressionist painters, Mary Cassatt and John Singer Sargent.
Have you seen any of my art? Art by Joseph Kim is common, but how about Joseph C Kim?
I focus primarily on paintings, photography, and pencil. I have tried creating digital art with drawing tablets too.
I’m Joseph C Kim and I’m an artist.
Sometimes, I find myself torn between painting vs. drawing. Will it look better if I used colors? Black/white? Should I portray the image as accurate as possible? Or, should I try to be reflective and symbolic in my artwork?
Being an artist requires a combination of subjective and objective creativity. I am constantly thinking and re-thinking how best to present my art. So, being an artist requires a tremendous amount of patience.
I love being an artist and a photographer.
